REMOVE TOXIC PEOPLE FROM YOUR LIFE
One of the greatest ways you can liberate yourself is to remove toxic people from your life. So many people stay in toxic relationships and waste years of their lives, instead of being brave enough to break free in search of healthier relationships. This can happen not only with romantic partners, but also family members, friends and co-workers. Don’t tolerate any behaviour from anyone that makes you feel bad as it’s only disrespecting yourself.
There may be people in your life that are holding you back from being the best version of yourself, or from reaching your full potential. You can identify these people quite easily because they are the ones who:
don’t support you in pursuing your dreams
complain about everything all the time
only talk about themselves and their own problems
make you feel bad when you’re winning
are always jealous of you and all that you do
pretend to care about you just get closer
try to manipulate you at every turn
Below are some examples of situations you may be tolerating and suggestions about what you can do to remove these toxic relationships from your life.
Scenario 1
Issue: Staying in a relationship with a partner that treats you poorly
Suggestion: Have the courage to break free and be single (you won’t die)
Scenario 2
Issue: Putting up with emotional or mental abuse from people
Suggestion: Stop them by asking them to not treat you that way or just walk away
Scenario 3
Issue: Allowing family members (or anyone) to manipulate you
Suggestion: Ask them to stop that behaviour or distance yourself from them
Scenario 4
Issue: Saying YES to people when you want to say no
Suggestion: Be brave and say NO to things that you really don’t want to do
Scenario 5
Issue: Always putting the needs of others first before your own
Suggestion: Whilst it’s great to care for others, you need to care for yourself first
Scenario 6
Issue: Not speaking up or standing up for yourself
Suggestion: Always speak your truth even if it feels uncomfortable
Scenario 7
Issue: Allowing people to disrespect you in any way
Suggestion: Don’t tolerate behaviour from anyone who disrespects you
Scenario 8
Issue: Being coerced into doing something you’re not comfortable doing
Suggestion: Do what feels best for you regardless of what others are doing
It can feel really scary to speak your truth, stand up for yourself, being able to say NO when you don’t want to do something, but it does get easier the more you practice it. Be brave and do what’s best for you always.
Some toxic people could even be disguised as friends or family. Perhaps it’s time to cut these people out of your life for good.
